Well I have not been keeping current with my updates so I figured I would share my latest project:

Gottlieb's Duotron prior to cleaning

The machine was in someones estate and as far as I am aware was never in an arcade so it is in amazing shape to have been around since 1974. I have replaced all the rubber elements and both of the balls for the game. The field has been cleaned and waxed and a few of the lamps have been replaced.

The only remaining issue with the machine is that the bonus/special counter gear is missing a few teeth. I am currently in a search for this part but as of yet I have not had any luck. If I am unable to find one I will have to have one custom made.

Nanao MS8-26SU Cap Kit

I finished the MS8-26SU cap kit but I have not had a chance to test it. I will plug it up later today and give it a go and report back any issues. This being my first cap kit I hope nothing will go wrong but the soldering went smooth enough and I as able to repair the damage the person before me did to the board.

So after some searching and a little out of the old pocket book the old seaman has light to navigate by.

Popeye Marquee Light

If anyone is looking for the marquee light bulb size or the glow starter for Popeye or any of the old Nintendo cabs the bulb is a FL10D 10W 13″ tube with a FG7E glow starter.

Nice & Clean

Being on the verge of ten years old the beatmania cab was in a serious need of a cleaning. While the main cab still needs work progress has been made with the main game play buttons. After two runs in the dish washer and some hand cleaning with some 91% they play like new. Other then a few dents in the plastic they look pretty new as well.

Craigslist can be your friend.

I managed to locate and purchase a original Nintendo Popeye cab. It is in pretty good shape but it still needs some work. Once I am done with the beatmania I think I will move on to fixing up the old sailor.

To Do:

Popeye Marquee

Replace both left and right side art
Replace control panel bezel plexiglass
Clean player controls/replace switches
Find and replace marquee light bulb
Recap monitor
Overall cleaning and touch ups

hiphopmania complete mix 2

So, after a little bit of searching and a whole lot of luck, I have found a beatmania cab for cheap… really cheap… Now that it has made it home, it is time to start cleaning it up.

Normally, I would post a bunch of photos of the cab, but since it is pretty nasty looking at the moment, I will leave it with a marquee snapshot and a brief list of what needs work.

To Do:

Pull the entire cab apart and give it a good cleaning
Replace microswitches for all the keys/buttons
Clean the two turntables
Tweak the monitor (some of the color at the top is off)
Fix the sub light (assuming one is in there… it looks like one is wired in)
Clean/repair burn marks from all the smokers
Restore metal trim
Upgrade to newest 5 key mix (if at all possible)
Scan marquee for The BemaniArt Project
Dump disk image of HHM:CM2

Apart from the dirt and the burns on the outside of the cab, most of the art and the game itself is in great shape. I look forward to being able to place this next to my DDR machine for a good Bemani combo… Now I just need a pop’n, drum/keyboard mania and a few others….

New Arrows

Well after months of working out the details and arranging the shipping and packaging we finally have new arrows in the DDR machine. That also includes new sensors in all the arrows and new marquee glass for good measure.

What’s Left:

New arrow bracket screws
New powder coat on the stage and bars
Repaint and refinish cab/marquee
Replace pad decals and select cab decals
Replace bar pads
Polish metal stage surface
Replace stage screws with original type screws
A few other misc items…
